America Sings! - Atlanta
April 29-30, 2011

We would love to have your choir participate in the America Sings! Atlanta festival!
Please contact NHTT for a complete, updated registration/information packet

For over 20 years America Sings! has inspired young people from across America to use their time and talent to help others. This unique choral festival creates opportunities for students to combine music, charitable giving and community service like no other event in the United States.
America Sings! encourages students to take on volunteer and charity work for at-risk and needy children in their hometowns. Students also have an opportunity to do service projects at the festival.

Please contact NHTT for a complete, updated registration/information packet.

LOCATION:
Stone Mountain Park, Georgia, on the Memorial Hall Lawn

SCHEDULE:
Friday April 29th will begin with the Opening Rehearsal and entertainment at 7pm, followed by a Laser Show at 9pm.  Throughout the day on Saturday, starting at 9am, Individual Choirs will perform, and choirs will do Community Service Projects and Music Workshops  All the singers will join voices in the Massed-Choir Finale from 7-8pm.

REQUIRED MUSIC
Choirs are responsible for purchasing the music for four songs throughtheir favorite music dealers.  America Sings! will send a choreography DVD to each registered choir so they can learn the choreography for those songs in advance. America Sings, by Mac Huff and John Jacobson, is one of the songs, but the other three have not yet been selected.

COMMUNITY SERVICE:
The community service projects at the festival will include a canned food drive, making sandwiches, and putting together Kits for Kids for charities in the Atlanta area.  Choirs do not have to leave the festival in order to do community service.

Choirs are encouraged to also do community service in their hometowns!

COSTUMES:
All registered participants are given a festival t-shirt to wear in the Massed-Choir Finale.  We request they wear something white or light-colored on the bottom (slacks, shorts, skirts, capris, sweatpants).  They may wear these costumes for their individual concert also, if they choose, OR they may wear their own choir's costumes.  There will be dressing room tents available.

INDIVIDUAL CHOIR CONCERTS:
Individual choirs are invited to perform their own public concerts on the festival stage.  Concerts may not be longer than twenty minutes including any entrance, setup, or strike time.

WORKSHOPS:
There will be several music workshops offered for choirs on Saturday.  Seating is limited and a final schedule will not be available until a few weeks before the festival.
